As much as we love creating hampers at Spicers of Hythe, year on year we always make sure to listen to our customer’s developing taste. Priding ourselves on creating the perfect hampers for everyone, if it weren’t for constant research & hard work from our product development team, we wouldn’t see the constant joy that our luxury gifts & hampers bring year on year.
What we know so far
At Spicers of Hythe the popularity of prosecco products has been unprecedented. Our 2 biggest sellers this Christmas have been Prosecco gift boxes in the £35-£50 price range.
While this is what people have bought for others, it may not necessarily be what people would like to receive this Christmas, so we thought we’d dig deeper…
As part of our research, social media can be an incredibly powerful tool. Not only for our customers to see if they’re keeping up with trends, but for the team here at Spicers of Hythe to see just what our customers would love to receive from a loved one this Christmas.
We thought we’d ask a quick, innocent question ahead of the Christmas gifting season…
The Question
We released a poll over on our Linked In page where we asked followers, what drink would you be enjoying this weekend, or that you’d most like to find under your tree this Christmas? 🎄
The Results
We found that the 2 front runners for peoples present based preferences were of course, Prosecco & Wine. Taking up nearly 80% of the votes between them, they look to be the most popular drink in everyone’s glasses this festive season. Beer & Gin then followed as 3rd & 4th most popular respectively.
The Split
Female Drink Preferences
Prosecco was by far and away the front runner with over 62% of the vote by females in our poll.
Although there has no doubt been a huge boom in popularity within the craft beer industry amongst women, beer achieved 0 votes in our alcoholic drinks preference poll.
In 2nd & 3rd respectively amongst women were Wine & Gin.
Male Drink Preferences
It was a resounding no when it came to Gin & Prosecco for the men that completed our poll with 0% opting for these alcoholic drinks.
It was safe to say the vote was split bang down the middle at 50% of the votes going to Beer & Wine. With beer being the most consumed alcoholic drink in the world (trulyexperiences), & the sheer variety of wines on offer for every palate, this comes as no surprise.
Overall
Although Prosecco was strictly popular amongst women in our poll, while receiving no votes amongst men. It still proved to gather 40% of votes in our poll, making it the most popular Christmas gift option this winter.
The “safe” option looks like Wine gifts, taking 36% of all votes in our poll this is split very evenly between men & women.
Gin & Beer of course coming joint 3rd, with 12% of the vote each.
What Now?
As with buying any gift for a friend, colleague or staff member, if you know their likes, dislikes & most importantly, their preferred tipple, you'll know exactly what they'd want this Christmas.
If you're shopping for someone & you know they love nothing more than a flavoured gin with a premium tonic. Don't let our poll results sway you too much!
But it's not always that straight forward... If you're in the dark on what to buy someone you’re shopping for this Christmas, a Prosecco, Wine, or Beer gift is certainly a safe bet according to our poll.
